Nawu 'Far Country' #1

This piece was created as part of my first solo exhibition entitled 'GAANBONA' meaning Bright & Colourful in Taungurung language of the Eastern Kulin Nations.

Artwork Story

Nawu 'Far Country' serves as a powerful reminder for us as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to continue to maintain our connection to country, even when we live far from country. This might involve regular visits, participating in cultural ceremonies, or sharing stories and traditions across the generations. The piece showcases a balance between two worlds – the day-to-day existence of country and the enduring pull of returning home.
