This piece was created as part of my first solo exhibition entitled 'GAANBONA' meaning Bright & Colourful in Taungurung language of the Eastern Kulin Nations.
Artwork Story
Murnong 'Yam Daisy' is a vibrant artwork that celebrates the significance of the Murnong plant to the people of the Kulin Nations. The bright yellows and organic forms reflect the beauty and abundance of this native plant, which was a vital food source and symbol of sustenance. This artwork honours the deep connection between our people, land, and the practices that sustained our communities for generations, inviting reflection on the importance of caring for Country.
