This piece was created as part of my first solo exhibition entitled 'GAANBONA' meaning Bright & Colourful in Taungurung language of the Eastern Kulin Nations.
Artwork Story
Gurnang 'River' are seen as lifelines that sustain Country, connecting people, land, and waterways. Rivers are sacred places of ceremony, storytelling, and gathering. Rivers provide vital resources, including food and fresh water, while symbolising the flow of life and the interconnectedness of all elements. For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, caring for rivers is an act of honouring our ancestors and ensuring the health of Country for future generations.
