Baam 'Spring of Water'

This piece was created as part of my first solo exhibition entitled 'GAANBONA' meaning Bright & Colourful in Taungurung language of the Eastern Kulin Nations.

Artwork Story

Baam 'Spring of Water' is a vibrant expression of the deep connection between water and life, as understood in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The flowing blues represent the sacred waterways that sustain Country, symbolising purity, renewal, and the interconnectedness of all living things. The radiant yellow tones evoke the life-giving energy of the sun and the abundance water brings to the land. The circular motifs reflect the gathering places and rock pools where communities come together, sharing stories and culture. This artwork honors the enduring relationship between people, water, and Country, inviting viewers to reflect on the sacredness of these life-sustaining elements.
