On Friday 05 May 2023, Luruk-In artist Aimee McCartney launched her first solo exhibition GAANBONA 'Bright & Happy' at the Queen Victoria Womens Centre as part of the 2023 Yirramboi Festival.
Gaanbona translates to Bright and Happy in Taungurung Language of the Kulin Nations. A colourful and bold body of work explores Aimee's ancestral ties and memories of country in dynamic colour, intricate patterns and bold designs invoking a feeling of joy and positivity.
With over 100 attendees opening night, Aimee was able to sell twelve original artworks that are now in their forever homes across the country.
